July 4th, My Song, and Louisiana Education

Posted by Jonathan Koeppel on

On June 26th, 2021 - I attended another public meeting that had to do with the future of education in my home state of Louisiana. This particular meeting was in regard to the social studies standards for the next seven years. It was a big deal! Many parents, concerned citizens, and educators, such as myself, showed up to oppose the blatant critical race theory and divisive content that would be introduced in grades as low as kindergarten. When I saw that they would be removing patriot songs and stories about American heroes from elementary school and replacing it with the socialist concept of “equity”, I was torn.

I didn’t plan to go viral, I didn’t plan for my social media to grow and now reach over 500,000 people and get more than 1.5 million impressions (all organically), and I did not plan to write and produce a song with an American Idol finalist. Everything i’m doing is not about gaining popularity or becoming famous, I am simply doing what I can with what I have to be a force for good in my community and across my country.

On July 4th, I want to send a message of patriotism to the “woke” crowd and take them by surprise. Imagine me, a high school teacher, releasing a patriotic song with an American Idol finalist and having it actually chart on Billboard? It’s possible! But I need your help, not your money.

Please, on July 4th, stream, download, and share my song “This Is America” on whatever music app or service that you use. Let’s send a message to Hollywood and the music industry that WE THE PEOPLE love America.
